Chile

As one of South America’s most stable and developed nations, Chile leads Latin American countries in many rankings, such as human development and income per capita.

Yet disability is still an issue. In 2011, when we visited, 6.3% of the population had a form of disability. Of this segment of the population, only 2.88% had a paid job.

The 2010 earthquake – the eighth strongest recorded quake in history – affected millions of Chileans, leaving many with mobility disabilities and without wheelchairs.
