Training Caregivers and Strengthening Communities in Kenya

At the end of May, our Kenya team hosted another Baby Ubuntu training at our Centre, thanks to the support of L’Oréal East Africa.

The training brought together 13 caregivers and community workers from five organisations, equipping them with practical knowledge and skills to better support children with cerebral palsy.

Over the five days, participants learned about positioning, feeding, communication, play and everyday care. They were also trained to become facilitators, so they can return to their communities, bring caregivers together and share what they’ve learned with more families.

The training also included practical training in bar soap making, giving participants a skill they can use to generate income from home.

Over the coming year, our team will continue to mentor the new facilitators as they establish and run Baby Ubuntu groups in their own communities, helping reach more children and families across Kenya.

With your support, we can continue delivering programmes like this, equipping caregivers with practical skills and helping more children with disabilities and their families access the support they need.
