serena nikkhah’s London Walkabout 2011

Join us for a 15 kilometer walk on Saturday June 18th around Hyde Park, Green Park, and St. James’s Park to raise money to donate wheelchairs to people in need in the developing world.

The walk will commence at Hyde Park’s Band Stand at 9:30 am. Once you have registered for the walk, you will receive all details in an email.

It’s free to join the walk but our dream target is one wheelchair raised per walker (that’s £200 pounds or $300 dollars). However, every pound makes a difference. Here’s what the money you raise can buy:

£10 = front wheel
£21 = back rest
£30 = main frame

Marcus Sirmans’s 2015 Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100

On August 2nd, I will be cycling 100 miles in the Prudential Surrey Ride London on behalf of Walkabout Foundation. It didn’t take much time for me to decide to participate in this race because Walkabout Foundation hits very close to home. As I have grown closer to my dear friend Diego Gonzalez-Bunster, I have had the pleasure of getting to know his older brother Luis, who suffered a spinal cord injury and was tragically paralyzed from the chest down when he was 18 years old. While interacting with Luis, I have seen first hand the challenges he faces on a routine basis. I cannot even begin to fathom the experience for other paralyzed individuals who aren’t fortunate enough to have access to wheelchairs.

It is my hope that my pledge to Walkabout Foundation will inspire you to invest in the commitment to help build more wheelchairs for the 100 million people around the world in need. No donation is too small! Your support will not only help the millions around the world in need of wheelchairs, but you will be supporting research innovations that are striving to find treatments and a cure for paralysis. Your support is deeply appreciated.

With the utmost sincerity,

Marcus
