18th June – It’s my birthday weekend & normally i’d be out partying BUT this year I have decided to ditch the heels and pop on a pair of trainers! I’ll be celebrating my birthday by taking part in the London Walkabout! Please celebrate with me by supporting this wonderful charity!.
Walkabout Foundation works closely with research centers all over the globe, including the Christopher Reeve Foundation and The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, to fund individual research grants. Walkabout receives hundreds of research grant applications each year and chooses to fund those grants it believes are most promising. As a condition of receiving a grant, Walkabout Foundation requires the grant awardee to provide an initial report on the use of funds and a mid-way report of progress.
While the cure is being found, Walkabout Foundation seeks to provide humanitarian assistance to people with disabilities on the ground today by donating wheelchairs to people who can otherwise not afford one.

Join us for a 15 kilometer walk on Saturday June 18th at 10:00 am (with an option of doing a shorter 5k walk) around Hyde Park, Green Park, and St. James’s Park to raise money to donate wheelchairs to people in need in the developing world.
The walk will commence at Hyde Park’s Band Stand. Email [email protected] to register. You will receive all details in an email once you’ve registered.
It’s free to join the walk but we encourage participants to fundraise any amount they can, whether its £200 pounds (or $300 dollars) for an entire wheelchair or just a few pounds for wheelchair parts. KX GYM is our headline sponsor, which means 100 percent of all funds raised go directly to the cause. Here’s what the money you raise can buy:
£10 = front wheel
£21 = back rest
£30 = main frame

I’m asking my friends and family to help me as I set out on what’s sure to be an enlightening journey along Spain’s ancient pilgrim’s path, the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, for Walkabout Foundation.
Five years ago, my friend Carolina Gonzalez-Bunster and her brother, Luis, started Walkabout after Luis was unable to get into their local YMCA in Connecticut which had no ramp or elevator. Luis had suffered a spinal cord injury in a car accident when he was 18 years old which left him paralyzed from the chest down. Together, the pair took action and started Walkabout Foundation to promote awareness of paralysis and disabilities, and raise money for wheelchairs for those who couldn’t afford them. Luis and Carolina launched the foundation with a 500 mile walk along the Camino, and Luis became the first person in the history of Spain to cross the entire country using only the strength of his two arms.
I’ll be joining Walkabout to celebrate the five year anniversary of its start with another trek along the Camino. I’d love your support on The Way, as it’s known, . $300 buys one wheelchair for someone who otherwise wouldn’t have one. Help me make a difference.
